Consumer credit, set up and run through one partner

If you sell higher-value goods and services, the right finance offer may help more customers go ahead, support larger purchases and keep you competitive where others already offer ways to pay. PPL can help you set it up, access lenders and run it in-house, with compliance support built in.

You offer finance through different providers

Most businesses that offer finance work with several different providers. We help bring it all together, with support for the regulatory and operational requirements behind your finance proposition, so you can focus on running your business.

Lender access through PPL

PPL is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for credit broking (FRN 626349).

We are a credit broker, not a lender.

We can introduce your business to lenders on our panel. Each lender makes its own decisions on whether to work with a business and whether to lend to a customer.

A wider panel may help you offer finance that suits different products, purchase values and customers. What fits will depend on your business, your customers and each lender’s criteria.

Commission

PPL may receive commission from lenders when we introduce a business to them. The amount may vary by lender and product. We’ll tell you about any commission before you proceed.

When a customer is declined

A decline can be tricky to face, but it is sometimes the right outcome for a customer. What matters is what happens next, and whether it is fair, clear and suitable.

We help businesses review their decline journey: what the customer sees, what choices they are given, and what other ways of paying, if any, are appropriate to offer them. The aim is to clarify customer choice and support appropriate outcomes.

We can help reduce the risk of customers being pressured to use credit and support a fair, clearly explained customer journey.

How it works

Conversation. We start by talking through what you sell, so we understand how your customers buy and how you offer finance today.

Review. We look at your customer journey, your current provider arrangements and your regulatory structure.

Structure and lenders. Together we agree the right route for you: Appointed Representative, Direct Authorisation or an FCA application. If required, we can introduce you to lenders on our panel.

Go live. Artemis supports financial promotions approval, complaints handling, training and record keeping from day one.

Review and grow. Your named account manager is on hand to help you adapt as your products, customers and channels change.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

No. PPL is an FCA-authorised credit broker. We introduce businesses to lenders, and each lender makes its own lending decisions.

Depending on the type of credit offered, how it is introduced and any applicable exemption, a business may need its own FCA authorisation or may be able to operate as an Appointed Representative of an authorised firm. We can help you understand the routes that may be available.

No. Many businesses keep their existing provider. A review may help you see whether your current arrangement still fits how your customers buy.

Deferred payment credit, often called Buy Now Pay Later, became a regulated credit agreement. Lenders offering it now need FCA authorisation. Most retailers that only offer it as a payment option at checkout don’t need new permissions, but it’s a good moment to review your financial promotions and customer journey.

No. We support businesses with regulatory structure, lender access and compliance. We don’t give financial advice to businesses or their customers.
